Whether problems can be avoided during this stage directly determines the profitability of the entire batch. Unfortunately, by this point, many adjustments are already too late.<\/p><p>Therefore, we must accept an ironclad rule: the broiler is always right, and you are the sole decision-maker. You need to spend more time reflecting on the signals the flock is sending, discerning the underlying essence beyond the surface. Each time you enter the chicken coop, please keep these three questions in mind:<\/p><p>What did I see (hear, smell, feel)? What do these signals mean?<\/p><p>Why is this happening? How can it be explained?<\/p><p>How should I respond? Should I ignore it, or take immediate action?<\/p><p>This methodology is not dogma, but a framework to help you make the right decisions in the shortest possible time.<\/p>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d3c473f pxl-heading-layout-1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-pxl_heading\" data-id=\"d3c473f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"pxl_heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"pxl-heading-wrap d-flex layout1\">\n    <div class=\"pxl-heading-inner\">\n        \n        <h4 class=\"heading-title\">\n            <span >\n                II. They are not without value\u2014they are precisely the first victims of disease, water shortages, environmental degradation, and other problems, and also the first sentinels to give you signals.<\/p><p>To capture these signals, you need to use all your senses: Before entering the chicken coop, listen carefully to the sounds of the flock outside for any abnormalities (such as coughing or strange noises); Once inside, use your sense of smell to determine if ventilation is good and if there are any problems with the droppings;<\/p><p>Observation sequence: First observe the overall condition of the flock, then focus on individual abnormalities; subsequently, infer from individual symptoms whether there are common hidden dangers in the overall environment. Sometimes, taking a step back provides a clearer view.<\/p><p>Be especially wary of &#8220;blind spots&#8221;\u2014blind spots often appear when you think &#8220;the chicken farm is already very well-regulated.&#8221; Maintaining an open mind, communicating with colleagues, peers, and experts, and sincerely accepting criticism are the best ways to break through blind spots.<\/p><p>Remember: A true signal will repeat itself. Temperature and Humidity<\/h4><p>&#8220;Control the chicken coop environment like a mother hen cares for her chicks.&#8221; The primary task in the first week is to replicate a warm, quiet, and safe environment similar to that of a mother hen for the chicks.<\/p><p>Here, a core concept must be introduced: perceived heat.<\/p><p>Temperature + Humidity = Perceived Heat<br \/>Simply looking at the thermometer is not enough. When the relative humidity rises from a suitable value to 100%, heat dissipation becomes extremely difficult for broilers. Even if the temperature shows &#8220;normal,&#8221; the flock is still suffering from heat stress.<\/p><p>The ideal relative humidity range is 50%~70%. Our goal is not to make the thermometer look good, but to keep the broilers in a comfortable zone.<\/p><p>The measurement location is equally crucial\u2014do not measure climate parameters at a height of 1.7 meters (human height), but always measure temperature, humidity, and wind speed at the equivalent of the broiler&#8217;s height (level with their backs).<\/p><h4>2. Ventilation<\/h4><p>Good ventilation has a dual purpose:<br \/>Providing fresh oxygen to meet the high metabolic needs of rapidly growing broilers;<br \/>Removing moisture and harmful gases (ammonia, carbon dioxide, etc.). Regarding ammonia, there&#8217;s a crucial criterion to remember: ammonia irritates the eyelids. By the time you can clearly smell the ammonia odor, it&#8217;s already too late. Once ammonia is noticeably present, the carbon dioxide concentration has long exceeded safe limits, and the chickens&#8217; respiratory mucosa has already suffered continuous damage.<\/p><h4>3. Water<\/h4><p>Daily water intake is one of the most sensitive and timely indicators of a flock&#8217;s health. Sudden increases or decreases in water intake often appear earlier than changes in feed intake, serving as a vital warning sign.<\/p><p>Please adhere to a simple rule: if you wouldn&#8217;t drink the water coming from the drinker nipple, why force your chickens to drink it?<\/p><p>Furthermore, the biofilm problem on the inner walls of the water line must be addressed. Biofilm severely weakens the effectiveness of medication or vaccination via drinking water; regular cleaning of the water line is not an option, but a necessity.<\/p><h4>4. Litter<\/h4><p>Many farmers believe that &#8220;the drier the litter, the better,&#8221; but this is a misconception.<\/p><p>If the litter is too dry, it may indicate insufficient water intake for the chickens, requiring immediate checking of water levels and the patency of the drinking system.<\/p><p>Even more alarming is that once litter becomes wet, it is extremely difficult to dry it again. A damp, cold floor will discourage broilers from resting, hindering weight gain and providing an ideal breeding ground for coccidia and pathogens. Moisture control is always more important than dehumidification.<\/p>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-40562b5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-pxl_text_editor\" data-id=\"40562b5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"pxl_text_editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"pxl_text_editor-40562b5-6629\" class=\"pxl-text-editor-wrap d-flex\" >\n\t<div class=\"pxl-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n        <p>There&#8217;s no room for luck in broiler farming. The broilers are always right\u2014they&#8217;ll reduce feed, pant, and squawk abnormally when they&#8217;re uncomfortable; they don&#8217;t lie, only we might not understand their signals.<\/p><p>Please incorporate the three words &#8220;Observe \u2192 Think \u2192 Act&#8221; into your management process. When inspecting the chicken coop daily, observe with a &#8220;why&#8221; mindset and make decisions with a &#8220;how&#8221; mindset, rather than just going through the motions, looking at data, and flipping switches.<\/p><p>Truly excellent broiler managers aren&#8217;t those who simply adjust the coop and call it a day; they are those who can anticipate problems and intervene early by observing the flock&#8217;s every move.<\/p>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t                    <\/div>\r\n        <\/div>\r\n        \t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Broiler farming faces a harsh reality: broilers grow extremely fast and have a very short production cycle.
