Chicken House Construction Guide
I. Site Selection Requirements
The site selection for a chicken farm is the crucial first step in determining its success or failure, requiring comprehensive consideration of multiple factors:
1. Topography and Terrain
The site should be high, dry, flat, or slightly sloping to facilitate drainage.
It should be sheltered from the wind and sunny to ensure sufficient sunlight.
The groundwater level should be below 2 meters to avoid a damp environment that could negatively impact the health of the chickens.
2. Soil Conditions
Sand loam or loam is preferred, as these soils have good aeration and moderate water retention.
Avoid building on clay or heavy clay soils, as these soils become muddy after rain and easily breed pathogens.
3. Water and Electricity
A sufficient and clean water source is essential, and the water quality should meet drinking water standards.
A stable power supply is necessary, considering the need for 24-hour uninterrupted ventilation and lighting systems for the chicken farm.
4. Transportation and Disease Prevention
Relatively convenient transportation is required, but a distance of at least 500 meters should be maintained from major roads.
A sanitary and disease prevention distance of at least 3 kilometers should be maintained from other poultry farms, slaughterhouses, live poultry markets, etc.
II. Chicken House Construction Requirements
A reasonable chicken house design is crucial for flock health and productivity:
1. Chicken House Orientation and Spacing
In most parts of the Northern Hemisphere, a north-facing orientation or within 15 degrees east of south is ideal.
The spacing between chicken houses should be 3-5 times the eaves height to ensure ventilation and lighting.
2. Internal Environment Control
Temperature Control: Chicks require 32-35℃, adult chickens should be kept at 18-25℃.
Контроль влажности: Relative humidity should be maintained at 60%-70%.
Ventilation System: Install effective ventilation equipment to ensure fresh air without drafts.
Система освещения: Design reasonable lighting programs according to different growth stages.
3. Stocking Density Standards
Floor System: 10-12 broilers per square meter, 6-8 laying hens per square meter.
Cage System: Determine the stocking density reasonably according to cage specifications.
III. Facility and Equipment Requirements
Modern chicken farms require comprehensive facilities and equipment:
1. Feeding Equipment
Feeding System: Automatic feeders, feed towers, feed troughs, etc.
Watering System: Automatic drinkers, water purification equipment
Cages or Perches: Meet the physiological needs of chickens
2. Environmental Control Equipment
Ventilation System: Fans, evaporative cooling pads, ventilation windows
Heating Equipment: Heat lamps, warm air heaters
Lighting System: Dimmable LED lights
3. Manure and Waste Treatment Equipment
Automatic manure removal system
Manure composting and fermentation area
Wastewater treatment facilities
4. Disease Prevention Facilities
Personnel disinfection passage
Vehicle disinfection pool
Changing and showering rooms
Establishing a chicken farm is a systematic project that requires comprehensive consideration of site selection, chicken house construction, equipment configuration, biosecurity, feeding management, environmental protection requirements, and many other aspects. Only by strictly adhering to these basic requirements can a healthy, efficient, and sustainable chicken farm be established.
